Bed raising party......
Anyone local available to give me a hand lifting the bed off my dad's pickup truck some evening this week???? Gotta replace all the brake lines and to do the line for the rear I either have to pull the bed (easier) or remove the gas tank (expensive if a plastic line breaks :angry-cussingblack: ) I f...

Re: Tow Rigs
On all the Chevy/GM trucks from early-mid 2000's make damn sure to check the condition of the brake lines!!!!!!!! They love to rot out if it spent it's life in the rust belt :? . Waiting for the stainless line kit to come in so I replace my dad's rotted out lines on an '04 2500HD that only has 41k o...

Re: XJ Steering
Tire pressure even side to side? XJ sitting level side to side? (rear springs are known to sag out in funky ways) Both ends of track bar tight and without any play? Was it ever in an accident? Steering box to uni-body bolts tight? Check the steering shaft that goes from the column to the steering bo...

Re: speedodmeter
You'll probably need to measure the O.D. of your old bushing and the I.D. of the new bushing then find a good "Mom and Pop" type parts store (NAPA, All-Pro, etc...) that's not afraid to have actual parts books on hand and do a little searching. If you find a bronze bushing that's a little ...

It's standard thread. The holding it in place and giving a sharp blow or two is just to break the fan free.

Re: good trail rig yes or no
That's a decent set up. Just be careful of how much "right pedal" you use. The D35 axle with a locker and manual transmission is more apt to have an axle shaft snap if pushed too hard on the trails.

Re: Gear Swap
R&P swaps can be a very time consuming process. Lou tends to quote jobs at longer end of the time frame and if the job goes quicker would most likely adjust the bill. He also stands behind the work that's done at his shop (there are some places that don't). JK R&P sets tend to cost more than...

LMFAO Kurt!!!!!!!!!!!! Carl, you'll need a big adjustable wrench to remove the fan and clutch assy. Best way to do it is put the adj on the hex shaft pointing straight up, put a long 1/2" wrench on one of the WP pulley bolts, give the end of the adj wrench a sharp blow or two (so it turns towar...

Re: Need a squirrel doctor
That's your H20 pump Carl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fix it ASAP!!!!!!!!! You do NOT want your 2000 engine to overheat or else you might end up looking for a new head!!!!!! You might have to move the PS pump (at least it's easier than the AC pump). 2000 uses a spring loaded tensioner for the belt. There's no a...

Re: Here I go again with another project!!!!
After all the rain, a wheeling weekend and uber sticky weather I finally got around to checking out some more stuff on Ol' Yeller's engine.... It's not often you can say that a blown up lifter might have actually saved an engine, but I think that was the case here! After waging war on an upper bellh...

Re: trans swap
Yep, Went from BA-10 to an AX-15 to a NGS 6 speed. Never had an issue with driveshaft lenghs. As Kurt and Joe pointed out, you'll need either a complete 23 spline t-case or a 23 spline input shaft for the t-case. Also remember that you'll need a different pilot bearing/bushing in the crankshaft for ...

Re: Battery
Frank,
I had really good luck with the Excide Orbital battery I originally bought for the Heep.
Thing lasted about 7 years of hard use (back when the Heep was daily driver/weekend warior).

Re: Valve Head Recommendations?
It's best to use studs on the ends (couple bucks at any decent hardware store). The snapped bolt can be removed by whichever machine shop you have do a valve job or you can drill it and use an easy out at home.
