Re: Operation "Mulligan" (pic heavy)

Just a refresher.... what it looked like after the flop. http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w278/johnsxj/Operation%20mulligan/05301516551.jpg And 3.5ish months later.... http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w278/johnsxj/Operation%20mulligan/0924151052.jp...

Re: Clutch time
Your other potential gotcha could be the flywheel if the surface has seen better days. Look into getting a new one or finding a used one and having it surfaced. I might still have one that'll fit your rig that just needs to be surfaced.

Re: Operation "Mulligan" (pic heavy)
O.K. It's been a busy week or so! Here's where I ended up after literally sweating off 2.4 lbs the Tuesday after Labor day...... http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w278/johnsxj/Operation%20mulligan/0908151700b1.jpg http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w278/johnsxj/Operation%20mulligan/0908151700c1.jpg...

Re: 97+Cherokee front clip conversion
what year was John Cs donor rig? Might he have some of these parts? My donor rig was a 2001. It's nose pieces have given my Heep a facelift :) Steve, provided your doing the facelift on an '87 up, you won't need a new hood unless your's is thrashed. I do have a brand new passenger side '97-up fende...

Re: Yj or cherokee?
Part of it depends on your budget for a 3rd vehicle..... I'm sure you've noticed that Jeeps with a fabric top or easily removed top tend to be a fair bit more expensive than an XJ in similar condition. Depending on the type of delivery job you're doing, the Cherokee gets the nod as there's more room...

Not sure if the emergency escape hatch is going back on or not.del_TJ wrote:Is the sunroof going to make a return?
With the '97 up doors I now have larger front window (with power) that I can climb out of when needed

Re: Operation "Mulligan" (pic heavy)
I have a practical (and probably silly) question: if you rebuild a Jeep, or any car for that matter, how is the registration in terms of color, year and model affected? Say for example, if you have white doors on a previously red car, is it still red or is it red/white? Does the registry offer a sp...

Re: Operation "Mulligan" (pic heavy)
It's going in "orange primer" Frank    This morning I finished masking, put up the siding tarps and plastic to cut the breeze down, blew the dust off and wiped it down with deglosser/wax+grease remover. Within an hour or so I should FINALLY be laying down some color! Oil bas...

Re: Operation "Mulligan" (pic heavy)
Been plugging away at the Heep here and there at night (and sometimes between customers at the store :shhh: ) Got the doors all mounted on their hinges then had the joy of swapping all the striker pins. No more belt loop killers for me :banana-guitar: the '97 up XJ's use the same striker as the TJ's...

Dang! It's been a spell since I did an update  When we last left our "hero" he was in the process of welding the underside of the roof uni-body to the new steel when a window broke....... ......while welding the other side of the Heep it happened again! http://i178.photobucket.com/alb...

The welds ain't pretty but that's what they make grinding and flap discs for :shhh: http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w278/johnsxj/Operation%20mulligan/0806152001.jpg http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w278/johnsxj/Operation%20mulligan/0806152002.jpg http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w278/johnsxj/...

The fore and back doesn't bother me nearly as much as side to side I'm seeing down by the steering box!

Re: Operation "Mulligan" (pic heavy)
After all the nice hot and humid weather we've been having I can now say I've been able to make some more forward progress! Last Sunday I pretty much wrapped up the extra steel work on the passenger side. This morning I finished up the extra steel work and started prepping the underside of the roof!...

Share away Cahl :handgestures-thumbupright: Here's the "T" section burnt in and more or less cleaned up. http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w278/johnsxj/Operation%20mulligan/0716152021b1.jpg It was said that it sounds like I have a plan. Maybe an idea and vision would be a better way to de...
