Re: sheet metal- for TJ
I used the 20G to replace some rotted tub sections. Usually either 18 or 20 is used for vehicle exterior, 10G is pretty thick and would be difficult to form. It feels a bit flimsy when you have it in sheet form but once you get it welded in its a lot more rigid. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/08/26/8u...

Re: sheet metal- for TJ
Looks like you don't need much. Most Home Depot and Lowes locations will have smaller pieces in various gauges. IIRC you can get sizes up to 18"x24". It's probably 50% more expensive (at least) than going through a steel supplier but worth it sometimes for the convenience. A lot of steel s...

Wrench fest help needed soon
Good news, death wobble is no mystery :) If its DW, it will be front control arm bushings/joints or track bar bushings/joints. More likely track bar. Other things to check are the bolt holes in your control arm and track bar brackets if they are possibly wallowed out. The bolt shouldn't have any pla...

Re: New Tow Pig
Glad it works for you, I guess I'm just biased. I've tasted the sweet fruit of towing with a diesel and I'm not sure I could be satisfied otherwise. One of the reasons I went with a 1/2 ton originally was fitting it into my driveway in Somerville. It was tight, definitely no way I would have for a 3...

New Tow Pig
Gas mileage will be significantly better. With a good tune and dumping some of the emissions crap you can get 25 mpg easy. Big difference will come towing where my 9 mpg Hemi really sucked. Fuel costs will be fairly close to a wash with diesel being more expensive. Highway speeds were a joke with th...

New Tow Pig
Well I thought I could live with a gas truck for towing and have it do well for DD economy, hasn't been the case. 15 mpg DD and 9 mpg towing. Craptastic 66RFE transmission. I mean absolute crap. So today I'm saying buh-bye to my Hemi Ram - and I'm not really going to miss it. The new tow pig is a 20...

Re: "New" Wrangler in the stable
Ok, update time. Beat the snot out of it at F&F. Nice. Lots of things worked well, some not so much. I have a few parts coming on the brown truck. New motor mounts, new tranny mount, 1" body lift. My body bushings are absolutely trashed so I figured I'd bump it up an inch and give the 33's ...

Toyo's would be great! If it were never muddy. Ryan, that's your biggest complaint with them, yes? Fawkers don't clear worth a damn. I ran the basically identical Nitto Trail Grappler in my JK and as long as it was dry they were awesome. Any hint of mud and the tread gets impacted and bye bye tracti...

Well I've made it no secret I'm no fan of MT/R's. They do everything ok but nothing well. Add Interco SSR's to your list. LTB's are great on the trail but you'll give up some on the street. Honestly if you're not DD'ing it I wouldn't sweat the street performance outside of stickies.

Duke the Jeep dog
Dear Lord, please open your gates and call St. Francis to come escort this beloved companion across the Rainbow Bridge. Assign her to a place of honor, for she has been a faithful servant and has always done his best to please me. Bless the hands that send his to you, for they are doing so in love a...

I believe this. Not long ago I spotted Dennis on Mass Ave in Harvard square. He was at a bike rack and seemed to be sniffing people's used bicycle seats.95xj wrote:I would sit down with a cold beer and look and smell the new machine.

I like how he high fives his buddy, then checks to see if his family is ok. What a douche.
