Re: Beadlocks and 40's

What are you going to buy for a tow rig? Seriously. Your chances of actually driving the several hour ride from Somerville to a trail head without getting pulled over 6 times is pretty low. It's an unfortunate reality in our wonderful state. This is a pretty good point here. Lifted 3.5" and ru...

Beadlocks and 40's

So I've decided to make the jump to 40's, wanted to get some thoughts/opinions on it. Currently running the stock JK D44's, 4.88 R&P, front sleeved, gusseted C's, I've got a set of RCV's, Reid knuckles, and Synergy ball joints coming shortly also. Planning on trussing both the front and rear pum...

Re: MA Fender coverage

True, I'm in Somerville. I probably should have held on to my stock Rubicon setup but with only 8k miles on them they brought some pretty good money in.

Re: MA Fender coverage

Hmm...it appears I'm good on narrow fenders, but likely not good to run narrow fenders. Way to go MA. :D Seriously though, looks like I can put them on and make the case they are legit and allowable under the general statutes. May be a moot point because I'm still screwed by the suspension lift and ...

MA Fender coverage

Looking at tube fender options, I'd prefer to run a narrow, say 4", width fender. What I haven't been able to find is a definite answer on minimum fender coverage in MA. According to this: http://www.liftlaws.com/massachusetts_lift_laws.htm And multiple other sources outlining the same informat...

Re: lockers & re-gearing

I'm a big fan of selectable front, feel you could go either way in the rear and be happy. If you're paying for install, might as well go ahead and have the gearing done, and if you want to run 35's, I'd also look in to sleeving your front axle tube and having gussets welded into the C's. As far as g...

Re: interesting new axle shafts

Have a look at TEN Factory for axle shafts, I'm running their chrome moly's in the rear and will be putting a set up front in short order. They're a bit more expensive that what you have listed above, but come with a ten year warranty. Will likely be shorter money than RCV's, I priced them for my JK...

No need to mount a spare just because of a lost bead. Just use the starting fluid trick.
:D No need for starter fluid in my tool box with a JK...I might have to rethink that now!

Re: New sneakers...

Should be fine on the 10" wide. I run a 35x12.50 on an 18x9" wide rim. Optimal footprint for me is at about 8 psi, and I haven't lost a bead yet. Question, what up with everyone having a hard-on for 15" rims around here? I know my 18" is a bit tall, and were selected for purpose...

Re: New from Somerville

Looks like I need to price an LS7....that also being said, this is about a 2-year-from-now upgrade. I am still a little bit hesitant to do an LS swap vs a Hemi. I've always been a Chevy guy: LS1 Camaro, S10 drag truck with a 400 small block, 2500 duramax....but there is something a bit blasphemous a...

Re: New from Somerville

what do you really need 550hp to wheel in new england for except for bragging rights. to me that is just looking to break parts. to me if you put money in gearing and a atlas you would have a plenty capable rig for new england. i would spend some money on some body protection and a real cage to pro...

Re: New from Somerville

Prices there include installation, so you can cut that price in half. If MA doesn't require same mfg, I will definitely look more at an LS swap. Even an LS7 will be cheaper than putting in a Hemi.
