Re: "New" Wrangler in the stable
A big thanks in advance to Dennis who'll be up here shortly....
Bye bye BA-10/5. Hello NV3550.
Actually considering going ahead and pulling the 4.2 and putting this 4.0 in while we're at it. It's a complete motor and harness soooo..... I'll see if Dennis tries to talk me out of it.

Re: New Tow Pig
you do a conversion and ditch the carb? Nah, just simplified the vacuum system and the gasket under the carb was leaky. She's all tightened up now! Runs nicely. Looks like I'll still be running my ratchet strap motor mount setup at FC. Ordered some motor mounts from Brown Dog right after we got bac...

Re: There goes the neighborhood!
Nothing wrong with nutserts or well nuts. I'd guess if you fukked some stuff up with boat sides they're either a poor design or you put them on wrong. Were they installed above or below the body bushing? Really doesn't get any strong than that unless you want a t00b chassis.

Re: New Tow Pig
Don't think Dunc wants IFS under his YJ, in fact I'm surprised he bought a 3/4 ton truck with it. Tune it with EFI Live, works awesome with the DuraSnack trucks. I wouldn't delete any emissions stuff, you won't pass inspection, and if your caught on the road by Barney Fife it's a huge fine. Be hard...

I assume you're talking about one of these guys:

Nice rig. Baddest JK here. I'd consider some different sliders. The factory ones will bend and crunch the body. True. Add some rails to them and you increase the leverage on them and will crunch easier.

Re: New Tow Pig
Yup the early duramax' had some problems. Before '07 falls into the "generally avoid" category. '07 came with the LBZ Duramax and since then (LMM, now LML) they are damn bulletproof. Not to mention best transmission in the business.

The smurf is much less angry now. Running like a sewing machine. Vacuum spaghetti is gone. Much happier now.

Towed beautifully today. Down to the cape with empty trailer, 70 mph, 17 mpg. On the way back with smurf in tow, 70 mph 14 mpg.

Re: sheet metal- for TJ
Yep, more or less what John said. Even though its a bit more expensive to get the smaller panels at HD or Lowes, you'll probably have less than $30 in getting what you need. Definitely stay around 16 - 20 gage, straight pieces aren't a big deal but if you have any corners to bend the 10 will be toug...
