Re: Metalcloak Skid Plates

I have them on my 2door. They definitely hold mud. After a good wheeling, I’ll run the hose down them, just like I do with the rest of the vehicle. No real issues.

Re: Jeep badge of honor trails

I am, but I think the closest ones are Jericho Mountain in NH or Rausch Creek, PA. What are you thinking?

Re: Bumper recommendations

I’ve had good luck with Smittybilt bumpers. They are seen as kind of the middle of the road product, which is fine with me. They’ve held up well over the past few years and haven’t had to spray them with new coat yet, though the front is coming up on it due to a few rock and tree scrubs. I would rec...

Don’t think I’m going to be able to make it. Have a head cold and don’t want to expose anyone to it. (Not the Corona!! 😁)

Re: Let’s talk skid plates

I see your signed up for next weekends run. If you can have them on by then you will have a better time out there, its a great property but to really experience it properly you will want skids. I did sign up for this weekend and am looking forward to it. If the skid plates come in this week I’ll av...

Re: Let’s talk skid plates

I actually bit the billet and went with the full metal cloak kit. I continued to do my research and read some great reviews comparing that to the rock hard. I got they Presidents’ Day 10% with free shipping and it was pretty close to the same price as the rock hard set. I’ll test it out with you all...

In all honestly, I would try if I had the right equipment. I usually buy the tools when I need them, but in this case there are cheap enough parts out there for cheap.

Re: Let’s talk skid plates

The one thing I didn't see anyone mention is lower control arm mounts. If you can weld box them. If you can't there are a few companies that make bolt on ones. Stock diff covers take a beating too if you play in the rocks. That’s a great point as well! I’ll add those to the list. In terms of weldin...

Re: Let’s talk skid plates

Just relocated my evap canister above the axle. The bracket around it had taken some good hits and I figured I was on borrowed time with it either getting broken or pushed into the rear drive shaft. There are tons of brackets out there, but it really isn't difficult to do the MetalCloak thing to tu...

Re: Let’s talk skid plates

It seems as the general consensus is that people like the RH more because of the recessed hardware over the EVO and it’s very clear that this is a common comparison. Looks like I might be starting the RH purchasing process, piece by piece over time.

Re: Let’s talk skid plates

The EVO kits are interesting. They are also 1/4 steel like rockhard but a bit less money. I don’t know anything about either brand besides what you’ve all shared here. Looks like I have some research to do.
