Re: Clunking noise while coasting in 4-hi?

It actually was quieter after a cleanout and fresh gear oil, idled in 4wd without exploding but not taking any chances with more damage.
It's at Offroad Elements getting a 4.56 gear set installed.

Re: Clunking noise while coasting in 4-hi?

Sorry for the suspense... the forum was down. I finally pulled the front and rear diff covers last weekend and what I found up front surprised me a bit... Clunking noise while coasting in 4-hi?

Symptoms: Nothing at all in 2wd. Shift into 4-hi, and as long as I'm applying light throttle, nothing. As soon as I let off the gas, I hear a clunk, clunk, clunk... it seems to be timed with the wheel rotation (scientifically tested by leaning out the window). When I shift back to 2-hi, it persists ...

Re: Death wobble

I just did a round of checking and retorquing all around before Sundays class VI run and found a bunch of things. Now I've picked up a tube of Markal security check paint. After you confirm and torque, you put a dab of paint across the nut and bolt. If it moves at all you can spot it just by looking...

Rivian tank steer

Say what you want about gas or diesel vs. electric you have to admit this is pretty jaw dropping. I could use a setup like this in some of our more cozy wooded trails

Re: Camping gear reviews for Tracks

I am headed to Otter River State park Friday & Saturday night (doing Brookridge Saturday). It's going to be 3 people and a dog, in a 2-door JK. After reinstalling the back seat, reality set in and it was clear that there is not enough cargo space to support 3+ people for 2 nights. To remedy that...

Re: Upgrade time... Lift, disconnects and control arms?

FWIW, I just put on tires, 315/70r17 (Cooper STT Pro). They are 34.4" on paper and about 34.25 as mounted and installed on the Jeep @ 30psi. But there's a lot of tires in that range: https://tiresize.com/tiresizes/34-inch-tires/ FWIW, there is about a 1/2" of variance across a lot of tires...

Re: Spring Jeep Fever: Signs You May Have a Problem

I just put on 35"s (2dr, stock height) and have been enjoying the low-rider look while I wait for my lift kit to arrive.
Definitely no trail time for me until its lifted but hoping to do it over a weekend. (Fingers crossed!)

New member from Norwood!

Hi! I'm Mark and I decided to stop lurking and join up. My Jeep is a silver 2013 JK Sport. It came home last fall. Outfitted with a soft top and we had a few weeks to enjoy that before it got too cold. Besides an oil change and thermostat replacement and a new battery, I haven't done anything major ...
