JK used engine
DaThug needs a new engine, I had it lined up with a shop in RI who had found a 70,000 mile engine ready to go. Unfortunately, it took my guy to long to get the freakin' jeep over there and the engine was picked up by another shop. Anyone know of any good used JK engines available? I've been without ...

Last month I noticed some coolant leak, took it in it needed a new radiator as it was worse than I thought. They replaced the radiator and thermostat and things looked good for a week, then noticed smaller amounts of coolant, took it back in and another part replaced. Driving noticed still having he...

It's been a hell of a 2022 so far, car issues nonstop.... Jeep in for coolant leak, still having issues... But what I'm hoping is someone here might now someone that does engine replacements. I have a 2011 Rav4 that hit a pot hole and blew a tire and no spare. I had it towed to tire place who replac...

Tire hunt begins....
It's time for new tires and I'm looking to see what folks are running on their rigs. DaThug is both offroad and daily driver, I've been running KM2's 35's. They have been great tire, I've had them about a bit over 4 years and for 2 of that I commuted about 120 miles a day. I like the MT's for the he...

Re: Used Car Advise
The best cheap used cars I’ve gotten have been in the 5-10k range. The simpler the better. I’d head towards a CRV, RAV4 or Rouge with not a ton of frills. If there is t enough cash, try to secure a small loan through a local bank or credit union and buy from a dealer that provides an inspection. If...

Re: Used Car Advise
She lives in North shore, I'm in south shore, any of those areas. An older SUV/Crossover would be best with 4 doors with the car seat.
I looked at my mechanic's who is in Milford, but he only has newer over 18k. Looking for some options of reputable reliable places to look.
thanks

Used Car Advise
I'm helping a friend look for a used car to get her and the kid to a specialized school, maybe 45 mins one way. She doesn't have much to spend and needs it reliable. Does anyone have any advice on what to check in a used car? Any used car dealerships anyone knows someone that's trustworthy etc? Thanks

Re: Mechanic south shore and questions
thanks Ken! I really miss going on runs, life is slowly settling down and I hope to make at least one this season.
I'll have a better idea tomorrow, I'm stopping by Offroad for Eric to take a look and see what we can do.

Re: Mechanic south shore and questions
Hey randy, Interesting. A couple people here saying an hour or two. Eric is saying it’s 3 to 4 hours. I’d love to do a wrenchfest But not comfortable waiting to plan one. My girlfriend has a 19 month old and we are in the car a lot I’m not comfortable driving it for long given I don’t know how bad i...

Re: Mechanic south shore and questions
I don't know the details of the issue other than when I had my tires rotated Friday, the tech told the service manager that there was play in my passenger tie rod. That he could move it and it should be looked at but they can't because it's not stock. Near as I can tell from Off Road Elements, the p...

Re: Mechanic south shore and questions
Can't give you any advice on a shop but I'm thinking your tierod replacement is wicked easy, most any shop should be able to get you set up. Widening lug holes? I had that happen on an XJ. Turns out the lug nuts weren't torqued (or even tightened!), they had some play, and widened the holes As you ...
