Shock mounts

Since I am goingto have to buy new shocks, could I move my shock mounts to my axle tube to the left of each spring and buy a shorter shock? The front is set up this way???

I installed a brand new TW drive shaft 1 month before MOAB and my angry sparrows started on the Onion Creek trail (day 2 I believe). Hand throttle (installed this afternoon), impact wrench and sockets and the best was a rockhard cage that should be arriving at Lou's next week.

The hand throttle would have been useful driving to/from MOAB!!!!!!!
