Re: Tie rod selection
I’ve never had a problem with the tie rod ends, I’ve always bent the tie rods, so I’d mostly focus on a good tie rod and assume it’s matched with decent tie rod ends. I should pick up a spare cartridge just in case, these are interchangeable, some are not

Re: Tie rod selection
That’s a bummer. Good choice to go with the aluminum tie rod, I’ve beat the hell out of mine and it’s still holding up strong. I’m on my third, and hopefully last, one for awhile. I got the Fusion 4x4 one and it uses 2.5 ton tie rod ends. No need to replace the drag link if it isn’t giving you any i...

Re: My sister Beverly
So sorry Frank, that’s awful news. My father passed away last week, I couldn’t imaging so much bad news so close together.

Re: JK Gas Skid
Synergy and a couple others make them you completely replace and there are a couple others that make them that just go over existing. If he doesn’t wheel he is probably better off with just a stock replacement. Maybe one of the off road shops have a take-off one he can get cheap

Re: JK Gas Skid
They are different. Stock ones are hard to find in decent shape, most of the aftermarket ones go over the factory ones so they don’t end up getting swapped out. You could get lucky, I have seen them occasionally. Not sure if it’s needed to replace a rusted out one, but I am still just running only m...

Re: Need help diagnosing steering problem
It’s nearly impossible to torque the drag brace bolt enough, the frame side hole on mine elongated a bit so there was always some slop. I ended up getting a brace and welding the nut to it. It’s not budging now. Mine didn’t cause death wobble, it caused the steering wheel to be off center one way or...

Anyone have stock springs/shocks?
Time to make the Jeep street legal in Mass. I will be transferring my JK from NH and have to downsize to meet stricter inspection requirements. Anyone have some cheap coils and shocks left over from a lift install? Or, does anyone know if JL springs will work? I may have access to a set of those. Th...

Re: Diagnose steering clank/bang?
Another issue I had was the track bar mount on the frame bolt hole was elongated and allowed some movement and banging when articulating. You could never get it tight enough because the force there was so strong. The fix for me for that was getting a brace and welding the nut to it so it can’t budge.

Re: Diagnose steering clank/bang?
Let most air out of front tires and have someone turn steering wheel lock to lock while you are under if. Hopefully that will load up the steering box if that’s the problem. If it is, good excuse to upgrade steering box

Re: Need help diagnosing steering problem
You have a decent steering stabilizer? I know it’s just a “bandaid” but will prevent it while working the bugs out. When I had my death wobble I eventually found a little slop in the steering box which appeared to be my problem.
