Will my 98 TJ front seats fit a 96 Cherokee?

Hi all -
I'm selling the front seats with tilt bracket mounting frames out of my 98 Tj, and someone wants to know if they'll fit his 96 Cherokee -- does anyone know this, or has anyone tried a swap like this?

I guess using "Alumaloy" yourself is probably out of the question ... ? I don't know much abut welding in general, much less aluminum welding ... if you're talking about using "spools of .030", then I guess it's probably not even close to being the right thing for the job. Just a...

What's a portal axle? Is that like what's also on Unimogs, where the axle is offset upward (with gears) at the wheel, thus moving the whole pumpkin and axle tubes up? That's what this jeep looks like it has...

Brian - That thing looks soooo light - it'll fall over if you walk past it quickly! Nice! I'm trying to get in better shape riding my mountain bike-turned-commuter-bike that has fenders, racks, etc. (heavy) on the minuteman rail trail - I long for a lightweight bike like yours - not in the cards rig...
