Re: Lower Low Range

I have the Tera low 4:1 conversion in my YJ. I am satisfied with its performance. I do have to be concerned with over-reving and am careful not to exceed 2500 RPM in low range. With the 5 speed manual transmision I do not find that to be a major problem. Install was done by my friend Bob Tochio at P...

Re: Exhaust leak

Yup, that is exactly the same thing that I had to deal with. The weld of my manifold has held up fine so far. Has been a couple of years.

Re: YJ flair kits

You might want to talk to Kurt before commiting to the Ox. He talked me out of it.

Re: Hello BSJ

I run 4.56 gears with 33/12.50s and I'm happy with the gearing. I also have the 4 to 1 Terra low conversion and its almost too slow on the trail. I had my Ford 8.8 built by a local transmission shop guy i know in hingham. Was very reasonable. Pauls transmission. Welcome to the club.

Re: Exhaust leak

A couple of years ago I had an annoying exhaust leak. Turned out to be at the exhaust manifold. Needed to be welded but has been fine since.

Re: Be on the lookout...

Most likely the Jeep will not appear in complete form. I would suspect the perpitrator will try to part it out. I woulkd look on craigslist for the parts turning up

Re: Regearing my Rubi

I see your location shows Newton and Hull. If you are looking for someone closer to Hull I would recomend Bob Toccio of Pauls Transmision in Hingham. He has done all my gear work for me. He re-geared my YJ and built my 8.8 for me. I have never had an issue with his work.

Re: Screen name... What does yours mean?

Bikers often refer to their bikes as an "Iron Horse", as in the song by Motorhead, and My Jeep is slow like a Tortoise (4.56 gears on 33 inch tires with a 4:1 low range) and green like a Tortoise. So it seemed fitting

Re: Steering Issue

Thanks Kurt. If you do not notice a difference then there is definitely something up with my Jeep. I am now set up very similarly to you now. It is very pronounced.

Perhaps this is just something I am going to have to live with. Kurt, do you notice a similar effect on your YJ?

Re: Steering Issue

As I said, the problem has existed for some time. It is a very pronounced difference between the left and right turns, something like several times greater turning radius left than right. The problem existed with the disconnect axles (while engaged). I just had the cover off and nothing appeared out...

Steering Issue

I have had an issue with steering for some time now. I notice that in 2WD I can turn fairly well in both directions left or right. The turning radius seems to be about the same. When I shift into 4WD I notice that my right turn seems pretty good and fairly normal but my left turn seems very poor. Th...
