Would this be the best set up for me?
Not a Dailey driver
1st I would like to install a Dynatrac prorock 44 with 5.13 gears and lockers on the front replacing my dana 30.
2nd I would like to regear my back dana 44 with 5.13 gears and add lockers.
Does this sound appropriate?

P.S.
Say nothing to the wife.

Depends how far you plan on going with wheeling. If getting into harder stuff on 38's you are pushing 44's.

That’s the best combo before stepping into D60 territory, but that comes with a price. JLs seem to be holding together ok with stock axles and 37’s, this combo will be better if you don’t want to go much bigger, but if D60 is an option for you I would consider it and that’s all you would ever need.

I assume by the gear choice its not a the 4:1 transfer case. looking back on my old TJ with 3.07's and 2.73:1 transfer case on D30/D35, I was always wishing for axels and hoping to do what you are proposing. Now will my JLUR and and 80:1 crawl ratio, I feel like the axle strength was not my limiting factor, it was all gear ratio and if I was in your shoes, I might be tempted to try just gears first and axles later, it all depends how big of tire you want to run obviously, the D30 has some limits.

I would not waste the money regearing, adding locker, and shafts (if doing chromos) to a 30 when your already on 38's. Depending on locker you would be into that axle for atleast $1500 and none of the parts work on a 44 or 60 when you bend or grenade it.

oh 38's? yeah, get off the D30...didn't know you went that big already
