JKU and JLU lift kits

Unread post by ASauer17 »

What do you have for a lift?

I have a Rubicon express 4.5 in my TJ and thinking the same to put in the 4 door.

you don't need a 4" lift in a JL. Hell you can run 35s with no or minimal trimming. I have a 2.5" lift in my JKU and clear 35s no problem. I have a set of 33" tires for my JKU that you are welcome to borrow if the pattern is the same for your JL, not sure what you plan to run 35/37 on the JL but the jeep will be really tall with a 4" lift and you will have issues getting in and out of it with 35s and that much lift. If your jeep will stay on the street I say put some 33s on it and enjoy it without needing to regear or go crazy with mods.

If you're just looking for height and ride improvement without going crazy with other suspension components check out the Rancho 2" lift with 9000XL shocks. Perfect for 33's or 35's.

Is the height for clearance or cosmetics? Flat fender flares will always make you look a bit taller than you are. And I just so happen to have a set of bushwhacker flares for a JK in my basement... ;)

ETA: Turns out they're MCE fenders. I guess after four years I forgot. :)

I have a JLU.

I want height. It's small. And odd to get in as its low.

Sure is pretty, though!

I don't have the height you want on my JK but, if the quality of their long arm kits is as good as their short arm kits, I don't think you'd go wrong with Rock Krawler. In my opinion, New England's unique style of wheeling makes us a bit more prone to breakage, and Rock Krawler's warranty does make me feel warm and fuzzy on the inside. Then again, the cost of replacement parts from Rubicon Express may still be lower than Rock Krawler's up front cost.

That is small compare to the TJ.
I had 32's with no lift. Was cool for cruising but not so cool on the trails.
Went with 2 1/2" spring & shock and added 35" tires. LOVE IT!!!!
For cruising around... maybe a 2" Mopar lift & 33's? That might do it for you.

From this angle it looks like a 4 door . Therefore the next question should be , of those that wheel their 4doors , which lift do you have and how many times have you turtled on something a TJ went over ! Just saying . The day gets a lot longer behind a 4 door with no lift or 2" and 33s. My opinion has been laughed at before . FjR68
