Jeep Beach Trip: Should I remove my carpeting?

I've got all the gear I need for a week at the beach in my new Rubicon, but am wondering about how to deal with sand in my carpeting. I figure I have three options:

1) Figure out how to remove my carpeting before the trip
2) Spend an hour or two vacuuming sand out of the carpeting when I get home
3) Accept the fact that I'll never get all the sand out of the carpeting and just live with it

Any advice? How difficult is it to remove and reinstall the carpeting? Based on some online research, it looks like I would have to cut the carpeting in a few places to remove it.

Without giving it much thought, I think I would try vacuuming it with a good shop vac afterwards. I think R&R'ing the carpet will be much more frustrating and time consuming. But, since I have never done it, I'm only speculating. It's a "gut feeling" thing!

To remove carpeting you will either need to unbolt some of the seat brackets to pull carpet out or cut carpet. I think you would spend about same time to vacuum. Do you have all weather mats? If so hopefully they will catch most of the sand.

I took out my carpet a week ago, it wasnt easy and the back of my hands got scraped a bit. I didnt have to unbolt anything but i did loosen some things. No cutting needed as there is a seam to the back of the seat in the door side. I have no intention of it putting back in but it would definitely be more difficult to reinstall.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like the carpet is going to the beach with me!
