trip dates?

Unread post by smileyfish »

Have dates been set?
If so what are they?
I'm still unsure if I am going but need the dates to put in for the time off next month.

Its not in stone but the chisel is in hand... 10/5-10-18 MOAB Depart New England on 10/5 those arrive in Moab 3 days later on 10/7 or so. Wheel for some time etc. and return to New England on 10/18 roughly. this includes the Columbus day holiday so some folks get a free day.

I've been chatting a lot of freight people up about heep transport for multiple rigs (at least 4) as Ive done some driving in the mid west and even "just" 4hrs of corn at a pop is a bit much for my taste. My hope is to fly out and arrive on 10/7 and will try to have a camp fire going for the road worriers....

there is talk of wheeling in Colorado on the trip back so the exact return date and such is slightly in the air.

I'm in for one rig/two people. The dates above are OK for me.

Not sure on how we're going to be traveling though. I don't currently have a tow rig and trailer but the plan is to too try and get one in the spring. I could drive the whole way there in the Jeep with a small trailer with the wheeling tires on it, but I'm not sure Beth would enjoy that. Having it shipped is OK, but the drive out and back is a major part of the experience in opinion. Fourth option is I drive it out and Beth flies in.
Speed costs money, how slow do you want to go?

Definitely in. May trailer or drive depending on how retarded I feel next October.

Looking forward to adding more "trail" stickers to my Heep.

Barring any unforeseen disasters, I am IN with wife and Nick. Driving and looking forward to some CORN BREAD! Not looking forward to SUBWAY!

Whatever date is picked by the masses is OK with me. Barbara is not fond of pulling Nick out of school for this BUT I think I've convinced her that a trip across country with the Baystate crew is WAY more educational than school. :shhh:

I thought I was getting out of the Jeep thing but apparently a f'ing bug bit me at some point. Kinda like Lyme disease! :eusa-violin:

I AM IN! Me and my 95xj will be trailering out. It's a long drive but another adventure is ok with me. 10-5 thru 10-18...right?
As for wheeling in Colorado...why not!

IN. Wife has been notified. She likely won't join, but I'll have a chocolate lab co-pilot. A buddy may join for at least part of the trip.

1,264 miles, Google maps says I can do it in 20 hours and 2 minutes. I'll take that challenge.

Plan is to trailer it, which means I need to buy something that can pull a trailer. And find a trailer.

Everyone planning on camping?

I'm too excited to concentrate. Looking forward to seeing some of you again, and making some new friends.
