Hi all. First Jeep and first offroad club. I have previously only taken the Jeep in sand and snow so I am pretty excited about actually getting out in the woods and learning a new skill. The Jeep is a 2018 JLUS. The only change from stock are 33" tires. However, next Tuesday she goes in for a 2.5" lift, 35" tires, locker, exhaust, drag link, tie rod and steering stabilizer. I will also be installing quick disconnects. It's been 4 years of saving and researching; can't wait for the change! I unfortunately cannot do the Toy Run but I'm looking forward to meeting other members and learning the sport in 2023.

Do you guys have a recommended brand? I was looking at Metalcloak. The company as a whole has a solid reputation and their weight for steel plates seem ok. Thoughts?

Yes Metalcloak is a good company and made in USA.
Before you dump a ton of $$$ get out and see if wheeling is for you. To many people drop big dollars thinking they are all in go out once and figure out quickly its not for them. Not discouraging you just saying it's not for everyone.

Rockhard makes 1/4” steel skid plates. I’d recommend 1/4” for at least the engine skid, it takes the most beating. My gas tank skid is factory, I didn’t get it covered before it was beat to hell. Don’t be like me, lol

I have a lot of the RockHard 4x4 protection and I like their stuff, although they don't always send the right bolts for some reason, but they will make it right if you call. People rave about Metalcloak too, when I was looking they didn't have the right fit yet for the 2.0L JL.
