M.O.R.E. oil pan/tranny skid plate

Hey everyone,

I just installed the M.O.R.E. oil pan/tranny skid plate on my '17 JK. Part of the installation is to remove the crossmember that blocks the installation of the rear of the skid plate. In their installation instructions it says nothing about removing it (therefore nothing about re-installing it) and in their youtube tutorial, it say it needs to be removed, but nothing about re-installation. This seems awfully weird to me. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

It seems like that is a piece that should be there. Common sense tells me there will be way more flex in the frame without it - but I've never been accused of having too much common sense.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I think you are talking about what is considered the transmission “skid plate”. Only the automatics have them so they do not provide any structural benefit

If it doesn’t fit back on don’t sweat it. It’s not structural, the manuals didn’t even come with it

If its thicker than sheet metal , Id put it back on even if it had to be modified . Why the heck would only the autos have it. Is it bolted to the automatic at all ? FjR68

It's not bolted to the trans Frank. It's 4" wide and is designed to protect the tray on the bottom of auto. trans. It serves no other purpose.

Not to confuse matters, but the pieces that I had to remove wasn’t 4” wide, it’s maybe 1.5”. It’s the one outlined in blue in the picture.

Yup. Believe it or not, that little bar is Jeep's version of a transmission skid plate. Now you've got real protection so no need to reinstall the bar. I doubt it would fit over the new plate anyways.
