JK Rear Seat Removal

Unread post by Blue Yeti »

2008 JK 2 door rear seat issue here...
So I looked all over and found some vids of how to remove it but the previous owner set the back seat in the wrong clip so now I cant remove it the easy way shown on the vids and in the owners manual.

Here it is.... sitting in front clip not back.

Image

Cant roll forward and pull lever to release. Any ideas other than cutting the clip off?

Error 404 on the pic... I'm thinking if they did something stupid and forced it in, force may be the only way back out. I have a winch...

Is that bar wedged against the other clip? If so, it looks like a lift and roll action is what you need.

No, the hook is in the front clip. With the seat in upright position the hook should be in the back clip. Put seat down and roll forward then front hook goes into front clip. Then you pull the bar to remove.

I can pull the bar, moves the pinching clip at top but doesn't help as it is not on the front clip to release. I can get a pic of a correct one.

I meant the large bar, not the hook. Can you tilt it down so the front hook comes down to the floor? If so, you should be able to push the entire thing backwards to free it.

Get a bud to push with feet as you lift from the rear is what I believe Mark is saying . FjR68

Yes, I Finally got it out.
Had it ratchet strapped together, whacking the brackets with a hammer and 4x4, prying with a huge pry bar and then a flat shovel.
I ended up cutting the cable for when the seat folds down, my son was pulling that as I jammed a flat shovel under the catch and bracket and finally popped it free!
Victory!!
So much room now in the back. I cleaned it all out and found some neat and odd stuff under the carpets.
I am now working on a mountable tool box/storage for the back to hold all the trail stuff needed.
