$400 for a shock!

This seems like a good idea for a longer travel shock, especially if you're thinking of outboarding rear shocks. But for $400 a shock, i think I'd cry if I busted one!

The only 5150 I like is from Van Halen.


Seriously though, The heckethorn on my YJ have been there for 15+ years and while they've leaked for about 2, I'll replace them with what is now Trailmaster (NVV or NSS, whatever they're called now).

If I can dig up the coin, the rear link in my buggy will run Fox 2.0's. I'd love to do coilovers, but they just aren't in the budget. As it is, I may have to run a rear SOA or 1/4 elliptical leaves. I'm poor.
On the bright side, if I ever decide to compete, the chasis is pretty simple to modify.

Regarding which is better above - I like simple and less moving parts. The Bilsteins would be the way to go.

also, the Bilstein 5100 for the rear compliments the 5150's in the front. That's what I'm running on my LJ with no sag at all. I suppose you could put 5150's in the rear, but the side gas can might get in the way.

The shocks have nothing to do with ride height (unless it's an air shock). Any sag would be from the springs.
