Frank do you know what it came out of? 2 or 4 barrel? Is the flywheel the one that was on the engine when removed?

Not that it matters, but 360's came out in 1970. It is a stroked 343. Just in case whoever buys needs to get parts for it.

The numbers say it was built in 69 , it was in a 70 J-Truck. Heads are dog leg , Intake is a 4bbl. Flywheel was bolted on the crank but I couldnt tell you if its the original. The Alt was just rebuilt and not run. There is an adapter plate with a 2bbl / 2100 carb on it. I heard it start and run before i pulled it. What else you wanna know. FjR68

The numbers are under the valve covers. The left side valve cover has a tag with the build code if it helps. (208N16) If Im reading it right. PM your phone # , Ill send you pics . Im told the 360 blocks without the two freeze plugs in the bell housing area will take a 401 crank and rods . This is one of them ! At the back by the bell housing mounting flange it has 3195528. It also has the flat Crank Flange indicating its pre- 73 FjR68

The J-truck was never offered with a 290
However, the 1969 290 car engine came with engine code H for 2 BBl and N for 4 BBL
The J-truck came with a Buick 350 in 1970
N can only be a 360 if it came from a J-truck
1970 car 360 would have engine code P
J-truck 360 ran from 1971- 1987
Therefore 2 is not 1969 according to the info you supplied.
Again, with the info you posted 2 = 1978, 08 =August 16th day of the month.

Hope this helps.

Actually if you were up to speed on how AMC did things , you would understand that the 2 code is when it was assembled and has nothing to do with when it sold or what it was in . Hence the reason its so hard to prove any early AMC engine parts . But if one understood early/late in the AMC world , you would have some knowledge of Tall deck/short deck, manifold center bolt spacing , degree of mating surface between the three parts. Making the parts from the same family of engine unusable to each other. I would guess if this engine is assembled and in running order , Its all from the same era. The two center bolts on the intake manifold are equally spaced so Im also gonna guess its not any early Vs. Late configuration. Being the tag says two bbl. and there is a 4 bbl manifold on it , one would get concerned. We could go on but I refuse to . I have a running engine for sale and if its not what your looking for , The sun dont shine everywhere FjR68
