WD40 Specialist Rust Release Penetrant

Unread post by Modeler »

I began my pre-long arm install front end rebuild late this morning by removing the OME steering stabilizer and JKS track bar that had been on for 8 years. I also removed the left brake caliper, rotor, and hub/axle shaft assembly.

Long story short, I used WD40 Specialist Rust Release Penetrant for the first time, I'm liking it better than PB Blaster.

I'd forgotten to put anti-seize on the shoulder bolt for inside the sleeved bushing on the axle end on the OME stabilizer. I was able to spray it into the bushing area and it worked its way along the bolt in probably 15 minutes. I was able to tap the bolt out after that. Everywhere I used it nuts came right off including the track bar frame mount and the tab on the axle end as well (sorry Carl LOL).

It began raining (only to stop 10 minutes after I'd cleaned up the tools) plus Josh and Jen came by at that time, so tomorrow I'll take apart the other side and then begin removing the ball joints.
Speed costs money, how slow do you want to go?

I also like PB Blaster . There also is a liquid spray called Fluid Film. Its expensive but sooooo worth it. When you lube your door hinges it stays there and wet for months. Just cant say enough about it. FjR68

I tried the 50-50 mix of Acetone and ATF a couple of weekends ago when we replaced the shocks and springs on my 2009 JK. (I took the 2" spacers out and replaced with 2.5" springs, and replaced all 4 shocks. I thought it worked better than pb blaster, the only place we had any real problem was with the rear lower shock bolts. Both of them broke. Everything else came off OK
