Front Recovery Points

Unread post by -HAZARD- »

I'm planning on putting a HK OffRoad Hidden Winch Mount on my WJ later this year (Summer/Fall). It will have shackle tabs built in for recovery points.

In the meantime, all I have are the standard tow-hooks on the front that came with the jeep, which are truly hooks and open on one end.

Will that be a disqualifier for adequate front recovery points on runs until I can get the winch mount?

On the rear, I plan to do a receiver mount shackle.

Your standard hooks that come with the Jeep should be adequate.
I have a stock front bumper and use the stock 2 tow points on my TJ.

As long as it is a frame mounted recovery/tow specific hook, you'll be all set.

You will grow to hate the receiver mount. It sticks out with the D-ring on it and catches everything . Good place to start but you will look for something else after your tired of it hitting . FjR68

Thanks, we'll see how it goes for the time being. It's pretty high on the priority list to get some good mounts. I'm just trying to work out a few tweaks with HK Offload that I want done on hidden winch mount.

Unfortunately, there are very few options for a good rear bumper on the 99-04 Grand Cherokee. What is being produced is very clunky looking and I really haven't seen any one-offs yet that I would want to replicate.
