Re: $&@?!?"$ Engine

Sorry Jeff, looking to "reset" the odometer with a complete rebuild. Since everything is out it makes sense right now. So my options are: #1: Replace broken components + new rings. Few hundred and I'm done. #2: Bring the block and head to Golen to have them machine, hone, etc and reassembl...

Re: 6 speed rebuild

Do you have a phone#? Still debating about the tranny rebuild option... any other thoughts? Swap for a 5 speed?

6 speed rebuild

Reverse barely works on the 6 speed in my pig and I figure I might as well rebuild it while I have everything out. In 2005 jeep put out a TSB for this issue... and the kit is $917! (http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/PENTICO/2009-04-25_143356_jeep.pdf) I'm trying to figure out if I can buy just the n...

Re: Local frame sand blasting vendor

Cool! That looks like good stuff. Topcoat with herc or another undercoat? Any special prep required after galvanizing before topcoating?

Re: Local frame sand blasting vendor

Wow... $1750 to sandblast and galvanize. At that price I'll just pay the $300 and paint it myself.

Any recommended two part paints? I can just use Rustoleum but if there's anything tougher it would be worth it.

Re: Local frame sand blasting vendor

I received a quote for $300-$350 to sandblast. This sound reasonable?

Re: Local frame sand blasting vendor

Awesome, thanks Franky. Please PM his info. Any suggestions for re-painting? I've typically just used eastwood rust converter, rusty metal primer and paint, but is there something better for a steel frame? Since I'm doing the entire frame at once (and I can strip it down completely) I'd like to make...

Re: Anyone familiar with LCG builds on TJs?

What do you want to know? I've kept my rig relatively low and have worked through the issues building TJs/LJs... and broken a lot of parts in the process. Are you planning turning it into your primary wheeling rig? Stock control arms won't last long, and they limit flex. What's the build plan long t...

Local frame sand blasting vendor

I need a boat trailer frame sandblasted... I could wire wheel the whole thing, but it will prob take me days considering how bad it is. Can anyone recommend a local vendor who sandblasts frames?

Two stroke outboard help

Can anyone recommend a good two stroke marine outboard mechanic on the north shore? The new-to-me 125hp 1986 force outboard on the new-to-me 1969 Glassmaster trihull is having issues. I can repair some of the problems, but have little experience tuning the pair of carbs in an outboard and adjusting ...

Re: $&@?!?"$ Engine

Thanks Kurt and Franky. Let me see how bad it is and what parts/engine I need to order and that will dictate the schedule... Ugh.
