Re: YJ Seats and Sliders

Would this work? https://www.prpseats.com/product/cjyj-adapter-mounts/ Looks like they would, right? They don't, but thanks for looking Lisa! Had a couple responses on YJ specific groups, I need to bite the bullet and fab up a steel plate / adapter. Shouldn't take long, I was just being lazy...

YJ Seats and Sliders

The front seats in my '88 YJ are trash, picked up a replacement set. And while they LOOK identical, slider mounts are way different. Original seats had mounting holes 12.5", center to center. 'New' seats are 14" My first thought was to grab a piece of steel, cut, drill some holes and say '...

Re: Mechanic south shore and questions

Can't give you any advice on a shop but I'm thinking your tierod replacement is wicked easy, most any shop should be able to get you set up. Widening lug holes? I had that happen on an XJ. Turns out the lug nuts weren't torqued (or even tightened!), they had some play, and widened the holes

Garage Hack

With a limited budget ($0) and a need to organize a garage I picked up a 3 drawer, heavy duty, metal filing cabinet off a free-cycle site and now it's multitasking in my garage. The drawers are on heavy duty ball bearing rollers and large enough to store heavy and bulky parts (axles) as well as othe...

Re: Is the "Jeep Wave" on life support?

I don't know, but I was looking at JL's and saw every Jeep on the dealership floor had a sticker guaranteeing a 'Jeep Wave'. Every. One. Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Compass - if it said Jeep, it had a 'Jeep Wave' sticker on it. Considered calling them out on this, didn't, so caveat emptor http://www.m...

Re: Tough Decision Time

Carl, garage is available if you need it. Granted its generator power for now but there is plenty of space. Id really say that the choice is up to you, Either do it up right and do a bunch of the major stuff at once, or spend the long dollar and get something much newer. Really its up to you, but m...

Re: Tough Decision Time

Engine. You gots the skills, just need the time and space. Can the bearing be changed out prior to catastrophic failure? Maybe throw in a lightly used 4.0. Thanks dude. Thinking it shouldn't be that hard to hoist the engine up a bit, drop the oil pan and change con-rod bearings but that won't do an...

Tough Decision Time

My TJ has what sounds like imminent bearing failure and I need to make some tough decisions. EDIT: This is the kind of mistake I like / hate to make. I like that I was (probably) wrong  but hate that everyone knows  Looking at options now, options that DON'T include an engine rebuild (I ...

Re: One item you can't be without....

1) Besides from a Jeep, BSJ required equipment, and a tank of fuel, what is ONE thing you absolutely cannot be without on the trails. I can't narrow it down to one thing. Mandatory equipment for me is: Trail Tools Spare parts (neither my tools or spares leave my rig) Bug Spray Epi pen Sun Screen WAT...
