Re: Inspection Stations
This my Max tire can be 4 inches above Max OEM Rubi which could be as large as a 37", and with the calculation coming to 3.85 (or thereabouts) I could go with a 4" Suspension and 37's which is close to what I wanted to begin with (either 37-40's was my choice and a lift/flat fenders to fi...

Re: Inspection Stations
The requirements are in 540 CMR 6.00. The Calc is WB x Track width / 2200 (safety factor) + 1" man tolerance. That height increase includes both lift and tires together. That's not quite correct. The calculation, TW x WB /2200 is for mechanical lift. Lets say the result is 3" You can now ...

Re: hows 4 cylinder jeeps
Just saw the turbo thing. It takes a lot of work to install a turbo on a 2.5L Even the N/A engine in my YJ has a port matched and milled head, modified intake and 4.0L throttle body, Ford injectors and a 4.0L high volume oil pump. Never mind that the AX5 transmission barely survives behind the 2.5L....

Re: hows 4 cylinder jeeps
My 2.5L seems to do fine.
$7K for a 17 year old potential beat down Jeep is too much, IMO. Especially, with the rear frame rot areas.
I would look for a stock Jeep down south and build it up yourself.

Re: Always bring protection
I don't know of a company that makes heavy skids for a Renegade. Realistically, you'll be driving on dirt roads .5% of the time and it's not worth the weight and drivability penalty. Trailhawk skids would be fine for what you're looking to do.

Re: rear hich point
I understand your thinking, definitely. Most of the decent 20K straps have a sheath on the loops and I think it comes down to the application (rear pull vs side). I've used just a 5/8" pin and didn't see any loop degradation. I typically inspect my equipment before and after a run too. Along yo...

Re: Newbie from Acton ma.
Welcome to the forum Alex. The downsides to your Renegade's platform for off road use is it's lack of low-range and tire size. Only the Trailhawk has a pseudo low-range of 20:1. I believe the BOD can approve the lack of low-range, but small tires and lack of skid plates will only subject your unders...

I'll see if I can dig out some old pictures from 20 years ago. I'll have to convert to digital as they're going to be real "pictures" .
