A/C issue
Can anyone help me work through this? The a/c clutch engages and cycles normally during the two low fan speeds but not on either of the two high speeds. When it’s working the line into the evaporator gets icy cold and the air is cold as well, so it doesn't seem like a refrigerant problem. Blower mot...

Re: Portable 12v TwinAir Compressor - Free Shipping
I bought the same one 7 years ago and it’s still kicking even though it’s got the throw-away made in China feel. I hard mounted it and still use it with no problems… and it is relatively fast to fill.

Food for thought. Golen engine is probably less than an hour drive from you.

Something else to consider is that you're not too far from the Crown Automotive Outlet in Canton, MA. I have bought good quality, cheap parts there before and they may have spacers and/or wheels. They're customer service is awesome and if you call them, they can fill you in on their inventory and pr...

Re: Chasing Issues
If you can, pull the front springs, disconnect the sway bar and cycle the suspension every which way with the shocks in to see if there’s binding. If not, it probably just loosened up on you. Even the stock, tapered bolt on the frame side is fine as long as it stays torqued down. If it’s loosening, ...

Re: Chasing Issues
I went through a couple rounds of a similar track bah issue before going to a double shear setup. Before the fix, the axle end of the track bar was hitting the top of the axle bracket under full droop and I snapped the frame side spherical joint at Rausch once. If you’re getting any metal on metal b...

Don't know what Ryan is up to, but I just saw on another forum that someone ordered this "high performance" 4.0 replacement after discovering a broken piston skirt.

Re: Skid plates: Aluminum or Steel? MORE or Rock Hard?
I’ve been running a UCF ¼” aluminum engine skid for years. I typically hit the area in the rear that I reinforced with a 3/16” steel plate, but the aluminum alone does bend over time. I didn’t reinforce the area by the oil drain hole and I can see a few hits are starting to bend the aluminum but it'...

Re: D30 carrier question
Here's the pattern on the opposite side of the gear. Should I add shim to the pinion to go deeper on the drive side?

Re: D30 carrier question
A little help please  Should I go with this gear pattern? Backlash is 0.007 (spec is 0.005 - 0.008 according to FSM). The pinion bearing is pressed in and pre-load is set, but I have setup bearings on the carrier. So, changing backlash is easy but a pinion shim change would be a pain, but I wo...

Re: D30 carrier question
Pinion load is minimal, doesn’t even read on the inch-pound torque wrench. Time for a rebuild. Glad it didn’t blow up on me... another trip to Rausch may have done her in!!! Explains why the axle seals were leaking. Looks like the gears are still okay at least.

D30 carrier question
Went to change axle seals last night and the carrier just fell out (no harm done). There didn't seem to be much or any pre-load holding it in. Everything looks fine, but should I be worried enough to buy a dial indicator and check backlash? Maybe replace the bearings? There didn't seem to be much sl...

Re: Track Bah binding
Frank, if I lower it any then the bar will hit the diff cover. I’d also have to install a drop pitman arm to compensate and prevent bump steer, and then the drag link may bang things with the short lift I have. The plan is to go double shear and use a frame mount that leaves the pivot point at the s...
