Preventive Maintenance - What and When?

After an eventful trip to Rausch, I have learned that I definatly don't have a good PM plan to help extend the the life of the new TJ (I have been more worried about making it safe to drive.) I was able to drive home and had a great time out there, but the end result could have ended differently due...

Initial diagnosis is the CV joint in driveshaft. Drive shaft is going to be rebuilt and then we will go from there. Good catch Mark.

Re: Clicking Sound in Rear or transmission?

I dropped it off at a tranny shop to help diagnose and maybe fix depending on the issue.

Re: Clicking Sound in Rear or transmission?

Does the click occur with what seems a full tire revolution or does it occur quicker? Does it occur during light acceleration and deceleration? Is it affected by acceleration or deceleration? Did the clicking start all at once or did it come on gradually over time? How many miles are on it? Seems t...

Clicking Sound in Rear or transmission?

I have a fairly loud clicking sound coming from either the rear or the transmission. I think it is coming from the rear and is only heard when in gear. Rolling in Neutral does not produce sound but rolling in first gear does. The rear locker hasn't worked. The gears looked good when I last changed t...

Re: Jeep Overlander Configuration

If your looking for a camping and wheeling trip Rausch is a great trip. You could have a great time learning your limits on all sorts of terrain and try out some of that camping gear as well. Let's be honest with this guy. Rausch has stoke trails but you have to go through some tough tuff to get th...

Must be the generation gap. You youngins will do anything to get people to look at you. Even if there saying what the hell is he thinking. You need lightbar next. Then fix your LOCKERS! That grill helped me get through those rocks that you had to winch over! I will work on the lockers but I dont th...

Re: Skids Question

I have rock hard everything with Poison spyder diff cover and Clayton cross member on my JKU And Clayton on my TJ. Skids are easy to install as well. Good place to save some money. I think the rock hard skids are really nice and I would by them again.

Re: Lifts and tires - Reliable research information

I had a good experiance dealing with Clayton Off Road in CT. They are good guys who engineer, manufacture and install. They have lots of options as well. I dropped off on a Saturday but did pick it up during the week. It took a few weeks but I had a 6 inch long arm kit removed and a new 4 inch long ...

Re: Lifts and tires - Reliable research information

Start with skid plates if you haven't already! Protect your investment, no matter how lifted or how big your tires are you are going to scrap stuff. You might want to consider going with 33's for the daily driver. I have 33's and 3 Mopar (Taraflex) lift on my grocery getter(JKU.) Nice setup, capable...

Now that you have a list of most tires "a-round" I will second the BFG KM2, nice tire at a decent price.

Re: CB Radio Recommenations

I have a Cobra 75 and it works fine for the trails and its compact. Its also easy to remove when not in use and no need to drill into your new interior.
