Re: Front Driver Side U Joint (and more)

I gave up. It's too darn cold in the driveway to work on this tonight, and I have to drive to northern NH tomorrow night. Just gonna have it towed to a garage. They probably won't bend me over the hood of it too much...

Thanks for all the help everybody. If only it was summer...

Re: Front Driver Side U Joint (and more)

HELP! I hate 12 point bolts. I hate them so bad. They have to be one of the worst and most pointless things in the world. ALL THEY DO IS SHEAR. With that out of the way, I need to remove the 3 bolts on the back of the hub. They're 12 point bolts. Even if I use a 12 point socket, it looks like they'r...

Front Driver Side U Joint (and more)

Here I am, yet again, needing to do a ujoint on my rubi. When will it end?!?! I have to replace the one on the drivers side in the axle shaft. I was just wondering since I've never done ujoints anywhere besides the driveshafts, if I were to pull the axle shaft do I need to drain the diff first? I ju...

Less than legitimate exhaust modifications

So I chopped my muffler a while ago and drove for about 4 months like this before I decided I would put a glass pack on it. Now I have a healthy amount of back pressure and a more pleasant exhaust note. Every now and then I get a check engine light code p 0431 "warmup catalyst deficiency"....

Re: Ungodly Vibration when on highway in neutral

I replaced all the ujoints in the rear shaft. the one at the diff looked warn upon inspection. Problem solved. Anybody know of some decent ujoints? the ones I keep getting at the local auto shop are dying every 25k miles :\ I know my drive angles are a little bit much, but 25k? there's gotta be a be...

Re: Ungodly Vibration when on highway in neutral

planning on it. didnt get around to it today.one more odd thing I noticed: If I take it out of gear and its doing the vibration (it doesnt always happen) and i act like im trying to shift into a gear without pushing the clutch pedal (obviously not forcing it, i'm just moving the shifter a little) an...

Re: Ungodly Vibration when on highway in neutral

Nope the tcase won't spew any fluid when the front DS is removed. Most likely the centering assembly in the front DS CV is what went bad. Re: Ungodly Vibration when on highway in neutral

UPDATE: Front Drive Shaft is now removed. Still getting vibrations around 40-50+. Also getting a squeek when shifting and the clutch pedal is about 1/3rd pushed down. Vibrations still only in neutral. Been reading up on the angry sparrow crap, but nothing says anything about violent shakes. Literall...

Re: Ungodly Vibration when on highway in neutral

Makes sense. That was gonna be my next question. The tcase isnt gonna spew fluid if i pull the DS right? just want to be sure, never had to disconnect the front like this. If not, sounds like a plan :D any recommendations for a new DS so this doesn't happen for a while? or am I just gonna need to de...

Re: Ungodly Vibration when on highway in neutral

After looking at it in the day light I've determined it's the front driveshaft. It's a CV with double ujoint at the tcase. the shaft has a TON of play where the two pieces meet. the 4 inches of lift with 35's and hard wheeling must have finally caught up w me. fun fun fun.

Ungodly Vibration when on highway in neutral

So recently I've noticed a horrible vibration at 55+ whenever my Jeep (it's a 6 speed LJ rubi) is not in gear. I also notice a slight pulse/vibration being transmitted through the clutch pedal when pushing or releasing it. Also, say I'm cruising in 5th (or any gear at high speed) and i leave it in g...

Re: $400 for a shock!

also, the Bilstein 5100 for the rear compliments the 5150's in the front. That's what I'm running on my LJ with no sag at all. I suppose you could put 5150's in the rear, but the side gas can might get in the way.

Re: Greetings from Hooksett NH

this is one piece I'm running. I also have a motor back skid from them, I'm not sure if they make it any more.
