Re: Baystate Jeepers and Broncos???

At this point, they look like a much, much better executed Bronco version of the FJ Cruiser, but because it actually resembles the bronco, it may actually make it. Agree completely. The name and look will sell a million of these, even if they're turds offroad. Maybe this will light a fire under Jee...

Re: Stock or upgrade - Rubicon D44 front axle

4.88 - 8 pinion, 39 ring gear 5.13 - 8 pinion, 41 ring gear 5.38 - 8 pinion, 43 ring gear The pinion will be probably as strong. But the ring will be a bit (10%) weaker because the teeth are smaller. I’ve see teeth let go before the pinion. Rubicon d44 is not a rigid housing which also adds to the ...

Re: Stock or upgrade - Rubicon D44 front axle

5.38 on a Dana 44 is going to make the ring and pinion a weak link. And you don’t want to be replacing those on the trail. Your “fuse” should be something easy to replace. For me, it’s the warn hub. I could have got stronger hubs, but if something is going to give, I’d rather it was a hub. Two minut...

Re: New Waitlister from Cambridge MA

Welcome. I don’t anything about courses but I suspect you’d learn as much on a 101 day with a club as one of those course. And save a couple of hundred bucks for mods. Closer too. You can easily sell any mods before you turn in the lease, so don’t let that hold you back! Just hold onto the stock stu...

Re: Stock or upgrade - Rubicon D44 front axle

For my 06 Rubicon with 4" RE lift and 35" tires, Barrett has prepared a detailed quote and I'm looking to pull the trigger on some upgrades including: - Vanco big brake kit - 4:88 gear swap - Currie Tie rod/drag link - new timken unit bearings an spicer ball joints - teraflex oil pan skid...

Everything is a compromise and it's a different analysis for everyone.

Otherwise we'd all run the same tires.

Cutting TSL's?

Swampers clean out pretty well, but you need to spin them. They won’t clean without a bit of wheel speed.

Cutting won’t help much for mud unless you get really aggressive and then they will SUCK on the road.
