Yes its better than open. But it does not compare to a locker. You will be fine on green and some blues. Plenty of people wheel them open. Just pay attention to the trail requirements. Sometimes a locker isn't only required to make for a better day but also helps from the trails getting holes dug in...

3. 80 is plenty that's what extenders are for.
4. Most importantly upgrade the synthetic line when can. A lot safer and less weight also.

To much torque will actually make them loosen faster in certain instances. You stretch the threads on the studs.
