Wrench Help

Anyone willing to help with a new bumper, winch and skids? Its a frame chop bumper so needs some cutting.

I don't have a garage so I'm also looking for a spot to do the work. If anyone is looking to wrench a bit this week let me know.

Thanks,

Billy

Re: Knock in 4high: Diagnosis help

Drove down to New York this past weekend with the family, put over 500 miles on the Jeep. They got some snow and I had to use 4 high for a bit. No knocks or jolts, smooth as silk.

Thanks again.

Re: Knock in 4high: Diagnosis help

Went up to Kurt's today and he found that the grease boot on the tulip joint of the front driveshaft was rotted out. Luckily enough, Ralph had his old driveshaft available back in Rhode Island. He was kind enough to drive all the way back, scoop up the old driveshaft and bring it back up to Kurt's. ...

Re: Knock in 4high: Diagnosis help

I took Frank's suggestion and put the Jeep up on jack stands. Ran it in 4wd and turned the wheel driver and passenger. The amount of noise made it very difficult to determine where the issue was. The jolting caused the drive shaft to jerk which was added noise. I could notice hesitation on the drive...

Re: Knock in 4high: Diagnosis help

Sorry to say but I haven’t had the time to put the Jeep on the jack stands and try out your advice Frank. I’m off for the week starting Friday and I’ll be able to check it out then. I’ll let you know what I hear from either side. If it is the axle u joints I would like to take a crack at changing th...

Re: Knock in 4high: Diagnosis help

Thanks Dan. I noticed it turning into a parking lot at very slow speed. It was most noticeable on tight turns. I will say that the feel and noise I got were pretty significant.

Knock in 4high: Diagnosis help

Was out in the snow today. We got a few inches today so I had the jeep in 4 high. On turns there was an obvious and repeated knock throughout the turn and the vibration was also noticeable. The ground was slick enough where there should not have been any binding or skipping. Driving in a straight li...

Re: Rear Knock

Its like being able to reach an itch that I couldn't scratch. Thanks everyone for your help.

Ralph- The bushings were fine. A little bit of wear on the metal sleeve from the old bolt but thats about it.

Re: Rear Knock

So I took the shock off and took a look at the lower bushing and there was the issue. The metal sleeve that runs through the rubber bushing is not threaded, but the factory bolt was threaded from top to bottom. Over time the threading that runs through the bushing was completely worm away giving the...
